I am new to turkey hunting and need some advice. Are there any good public lands in game zone two?
Thanks.

My son I and went out yesterday morning looking for small game just south of Great Falls. We found several sets of of turkey tracks! It's the first time of seen any in this area. I didn't hear anything, but I will be out there again this week. I will be sure to listen.

Well, I have found several promising spots in Newberry county in the WMA on the National Forest. You can pick up a nice large WMA map from a ranger station there for like 5 buck or so, its been very helpful. Gone out every morning this week and heard at least three different Gobblers each day they seem to respond to calling they are just not very motivated to come when called. I think that there were a lot of young hens this year that are rushing to the Toms to breed defore the boss hens come around.
As soon as the youngs ones are all bred the Toms will be on the prowl and be more receptive to calling. I can hope at least. After reading a little on the forums here too I'm going to stay out a little later tomorrow, till at least noon and see if I have better luck. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the info.
I've only been out twice this season. The first time I heard a gobbler fairly close, but I could not get him to come towards me. I decided to try move in a little closer. Within five minutes of getting up I heard another hunter take him down. I'm guessing I was too impatient and my movement drove him to the other hunter. The second time was even less productive. I only heard a couple gobblers and the were pretty far off.
I also have been checking other posts (here and a few other places) and want to try late morning to early afternoon. Seems like others have had pretty good luck by sticking around after the early morning excitement.
