    WeHuntSC.com - The Predator Challenge Check-In
  The check-in sign
As you are most likely aware, we just crowned the winners in South Carolina’s first predator competition this past weekend. Terry Williams, Chip & Amanda Humphries emerged as the victorious team and they even got some of their hunt on video! Congratulations to the winning team hailing from McBee, SC.

I’m not a big predator hunter, but I don’t think I’d mind giving it a try!  Earlier this year some of our site members were mentioning to me that we should have a predator competition, but by not being an avid predator hunter this presented a dilemma for me.  I was hesitant to try to create and structure a competition that I didn’t fully understand.  For this reason, I’d like to say a big “Thank You” to Chip Humphries (and everyone that helped him) for partnering with us and helping us properly structure, recruit sponsors, and run the competition.  We leaned on Chip and crew for insight in creating a good competition.  Without their help, it wouldn’t have been possible… so it may have just been destiny that they emerged victorious in the competition!   Also, we should give another big “Thank You” to the Sportsman’s Warehouse in Columbia, SC as well for letting us base the check-in out of their facility. Pulling this competition off was a total team effort so thanks to everyone involved.

We really didn’t know what to expect from the competition given that there is no official predator season and due to the youth of the site.  We were pleased to have 19 teams entered in the competition in just the first year.  We think (and hope) that the predator competition will continue to grow and get bigger every year.  While we were at the Sportsman’s Warehouse we had several people come by and note that they “wish they had known about the competition” because they would have entered.  This is a good sign.  We also got some good marketing while socializing at the check-in.

The final results of the competition were:

1st Place: Terry Williams, Chip Humphries, Amanda Humphries – McBee, SC
2nd Place: Dan Brothers – Santee, SC
3rd Place: David Pruett & Todd Davis – Spartanburg, SC

While we were at the check-in, Chip told me that they had some of their hunt on video.  I was pumped about this and eager to see the footage.  Since they had the footage, they were nice enough to let me include it in the below video.

I think everyone had a good time… I know we did!  We appreciate the sponsors and hunters who competed in the competition.  We hope to see you at the check-in next year as well.

Regards,

Clint

Dang that good there that the guy over the competition won. This suppose to be a site for hunters, not for you guys to get free stuff.

Re: 2011 SC Predator Competition Winners

You're exactly right. We're a bunch of greedy, selfish, non-hunters who don't care about anything except getting prizes for ourselves....that's why we won all the deer competitions too! I guess you missed the part about the 2 other teams getting prizes as well huh, but obviously the hate overrode your common sense on this one. It was obvious to everyone that showed up who had the most predators...just ask anyone who was there. Next time you want to be critical, just show up and participate and then see if you still have anything to say. I guess it's easier to be lazy and sit back and be critical about those involved rather than to get involved yourself.Now...off to win more prizes for myself

Re: 2011 SC Predator Competition Winners

Wait now, it's only fair that all competitions are fair across the board. From now on, all competitions should consist of prizes for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and most importantly!!! The "poor baby" place. Just when I think all you guys from the upstate are tough, a crybaby jumps in and makes you guys look bad. It's gonna take a lot for my impression of you guys to change now Clint, lol!

Re: 2011 SC Predator Competition Winners

Chip and Terry do not get free stuff from this website. Yea they are friends of ours and was nice enough to help put together our first annual predator competition. They got free stuff because they out hunted everybody else. If you mad, step your hunting skills up. Anybody can help participant on this site. If everybody cared as much about the outdoors as Chip and Terry, this site could be that much better. This is a site where we country boys can share our hunting experiences and develop friendships that will last a lifetime. So, please keep the hate to a minimum!

Dang boys... I am sure that there is some stickers, playing cards, or something "Free" that you could send them to make them feel included. There sure is a lot of sensitive people in the world today.

Re: 2011 SC Predator Competition Winners

Yep, you caught me. This was all make-believe. I made up 18 other pretend teams just to fool you. We didn't really meet at Sportsman's Warehouse for check-in either. That was trick photography. And those predators were actually just stuffed animals from Toys R Us. I must have done a pretty good job too since your the only one that figured it out. Hope your able to pick up on the sarcasm.
If you got a problem with us winning then maybe you should bring your game next year. I guarantee ya I'll be bringing mine. And if you don't approve of the competitions and the site then just point your mouse in some other direction. Don't need hunters that don't have any class. (Sorry Mr. Patterson)

Re: 2011 SC Predator Competition Winners

@ Chip... it's ok

@ Will, you are correct and your post does give insight and highlight the sensitivity of some people in the world today.

Also, I don't know if I've ever mentioned that one of the things I like to do is track IP addresses. True, it is kind of nerdy, but it can be telling and helps me figure out who's impersonating site members in various scenarios such as this. See Upstatehuner is a registered member of our site and when he posts his IP address is 98.71.181.129 which, when tracked, points to Spartanburg, SC. Just go to www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/98.71.181.129 and see where it's coming from. Oddly enough the post that got this all started didn't match his IP address and didn't come from anywhere near Spartanburg!

Metrics, IP addresses, hate, the timeline.... this is just too much fun!

Oh I almost forgot one of the best parts....Upstatehunter is a minister too! You really have outdone yourself on this one by impersonating a preacher!

Ya'll don't get your feathers ruffled on this anymore... it has nothing to do with the competition.

If you promise to stop being sensitive, coming on here posting hate, and impersonating site members, then I'll be a good boy and won't reveal the profile that the IP address from your post matches...deal ???

Re: 2011 SC Predator Competition Winners

Man am I sorry that I haven't seen this until now. I just want to say that Hawgmaster and I attended the check in. Hawgmaster and I have killed lots of predators and know what they look like if it had been rigged, These animals were fresh kills and they even videoed the hunt. These guys won fair and square and deserved the win.
I would also like to add that Terry met Hawg and I in the parking lot after it was all over and gave Hawg and I two handcarved coyote calls from the prize package. This was very generous.
I think that Clint and his staff are a great bunch of guys, and he put this on because the members of his board spoke up and said they would like to have a predator competition. Clint thanks again for putting all of this together and getting the sponsors involved. Don't worry about us, we'll be there next year too.
If anyone wants to discuss then call me, 864-809-7724

Re: 2011 SC Predator Competition Winners

I've been slammed and haven't checked the site in a couple of weeks but I think its great that the people that took the/their time to put the hunt together won it. Don't get me wrong, I wish I had won it, but luck wasn't with us! We had a ball and should have taken at least 2 coyto's. I hope chip will put another hunt together soon. Thanks, I think yall did a great job! Next time let's play me win!
